Cadillac CTS 2007

It is widely believed that in January 2007 Cadillac will introduce an all-new CTS that will go on sale as a 2008 model. The 2008 model will be riding on an all-new Sigma II platform. There are rumors of a coupe model being added to the sedan lineup making it more of a BMW 3 Series competitor. It has also been said that the current CTS's LY7 V6 will receive a direct-injection system, boosting the power to somewhere above 260 BHP.

Lutz Interior Preview on CBS

On April 2, 2006 in a 60 Minutes interview with Bob Lutz, part of a prototype Cadillac was revealed to audiences. The car appeared to take design influences both inside and out from the Cadillac Sixteen concept from 2003. Prototype models caught testing at the Nürburgring in Germany also carry many of the design features from the car showcased in April nearly unmasked. Spyshots from the Nürburgring prototypes also show that the car will still have a manual transmission.

The CTS will also have an All Wheel Drive option.

Trivia

The CTS was featured extensively in the car chase sequence of the film The Matrix Reloaded (2003), along with the Cadillac Escalade EXT. The first public photographs of the car were actually smuggled off the set of this film. The car was also featured in a chase scene in Bad Boys II, where the characters steal Dan Marino's new CTS as it is being delivered. Will Smith declares "Dan Marino DEFINITELY has to get this car! Well not this one because I'm going to fuck it up. But definitely one just like it!"
